Bilingual Summer Bridge (Camp) Teacher – Pottstown

Monday through Fridays from 8:00 AM to 2:30 p.m. Mid-May-August

Reports to: Academic Programs Manager
Location: (Pottstown) 
Position Type: Temporary Hourly employee (Up to 32 hours per week) 

Essential Function:   The Bilingual Summer Bridge (Camp) Lead Teacher will instruct/supervise a class of school students in ACLAMO’s summer program. The ideal candidate will have a background in the field of education and be highly organized, flexible and patient with students.
The Summer Bridge (Camp) Lead Teacher will be responsible for the following essential functions: 

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan daily lesson plans to achieve goals and objectives in literacy/math/science
  • Lead fun, engaging and practical activities
  • Create and acquire engaging, relevant and authentic materials
  • Supervise students during class time, entrance and dismissal, enforcing administration policies and rules
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the outdoors sites and classroom which will include vacuuming, dusting, picking up materials or supplies, wiping down surfaces and arranging desks and chairs
  • Must be honest, act with integrity, and model the Mission and values of ACLAMO.
  • Program outreach to the Pottstown Community, to recruit Summer Camp participants.  Required to work with children in all weather conditions and a wide range of outdoor temperatures.
  • Facilitate lessons, games and activities that align with the weekly activities. This includes prep work to ensure each day at camp runs smoothly.
  • Enforce safety rules, intervene when necessary, and make sure all children are safe. 
  • Participate in weekly staff meetings for lesson planning, evaluation and problem solving.
  • Work as a team with all camp staff to ensure each day of camp runs smoothly.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Seeking candidates with college experience.  Two years previous knowledge working with children in any summer program, is preferred. 
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Proficient in Microsoft programs, e.g. Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
  • Detail oriented and possess strong organizational skills
  • Ability to believe in the academic potential of all students

Special Notes:

  • This position requires visual and auditory acuity and the physical ability to ascending or descending ladders, stairs, and ramps among others. Adjusting, lifting up, carrying up or moving objects up to 35 pounds in all directions.
  • Standing or sitting for prolonged periods, walk and work in your feet for a minimum of 6 hours at a time.
  • Must obtain the following three clearances:
    • Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance;
    • Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check; and
    • Federal Bureau of Investigation Criminal Background Check.
