Yani Ortiz Suarez is the Manager of Grants and Scholarship at The Montgomery County Foundation, Inc. where she helps streamline internal processes to best serve the local organizations and students. Before living in Montgomery County, she was raised in Philadelphia and born in Ceiba, Puerto Rico, where her family is originally from. Growing up in North Philadelphia inspired her goals to pursue a career in nonprofit work and serve her community. She obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Cairn University and became the first in her family to graduate from college. For her, Hispanic Heritage Month is a celebration that encompasses a large and diverse group of people. It is a time to celebrate Hispanics’ and Latin culture’s influence and contribution in other cultures and places. She wants people to know that, “We [Hispanic and Latinos] are here, and we are everywhere.” She continues, “Montgomery County is home to a large Hispanic population that is considered the largest ethnic minority in the United States. Everyone should know that there are so many beautiful ethnicities that make up every place and community. The United States is only made beautiful by acknowledging the richness of the people that made it.”

Antes de vivir en el Condado de Montgomery, se crió en Filadelfia y nació en Ceiba, Puerto Rico, de donde es originaria su familia. Ella quiere que la gente sepa que, “Nosotros [los hispanos y los latinos] estamos aquí, y estamos en todas partes”. Ella continúa: “El condado de Montgomery es el hogar de una gran población hispana que se considera la minoría étnica más grande de los Estados Unidos. Todos deben saber que hay tantas etnias hermosas que conforman cada lugar y comunidad. Los Estados Unidos solo se hace hermoso al reconocer la riqueza de las personas que viven aquí.”
