On May 14th, ACLAMO was honored to host representatives from the Governor’s Advisory Commission on Latino Affairs (GACLA), along with leaders and partners from across the region, for an evening focused on collaboration, advocacy, and strengthening support for Latino and underserved communities. Guests included representatives from the Norristown Area School District, the Norristown Police Department, the VNA Foundation of North Penn, the Pottstown Regional Community Foundation, the Literacy Council of Norristown, Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services, as well as representatives from the Mexican and Guatemalan Consulates in Philadelphia.

The discussion highlighted the importance of partnerships between community organizations, government agencies, schools, healthcare providers, and elected officials, while also emphasizing civic engagement and continued investment in community-based programs and services. The event served as a meaningful reminder that lasting impact is achieved through shared purpose, partnership, and collective action.

ACLAMO’s Latest News

A Perfect Score, A Brighter Future for Every Child

At the ACLAMO Early Learning Center, this year’s Pennsylvania Pre-K Counts (PKC) monitoring process became more than just an evaluation; it became a celebration of dedication, teamwork, and the dreams we build for children every single day.

Our program earned a perfect score of 435 out of 435, placing us in the prestigious “Fully Meets” category as an MCIU Partner Agency. It was a moment that reflected countless hours of care, learning, preparation, and heart poured into our classrooms and community.

Behind this achievement are the teachers who greet every child with warmth each morning, the staff members who work tirelessly behind the scenes, the families who trust us with their children, and the community partners who stand beside us in our mission. Together, they created an environment where children can learn, grow, and thrive.

This milestone is not just about a score; it is about the brighter futures we are helping shape, one child at a time.

As we approach the end of the school year on June 30, we invite you to help us continue providing high-quality early learning opportunities for local children. Please consider a gift of $50 or more to support classroom resources, bilingual family engagement, and enriching educational experiences for students and their families.

From Learning to Leadership

Recently, our students stepped onto the stage with confidence, courage, and something powerful to say, and their voices were heard. ACLAMO was proud to take part in the Celebration of Student Achievement at Ursinus College, where students shared the growth and leadership they’ve developed through our ADELANTE program and Nuestras Voces Cívicas.

Over the past eight weeks, students worked alongside dedicated college volunteers to strengthen their civic leadership skills through workshops, conversations, and podcasts centered on advocacy and education. What began as learning opportunities became a platform for students to speak up, share their experiences, and inspire others.

We are deeply grateful to Ursinus College, the student volunteers, and our former colleague, Kelly Zayago, for investing in our youth and believing in the power of their voices. And to the ACLAMO team, thank you for the daily commitment that creates opportunities like this for our students to grow and thrive.

“I never thought I would feel this confident speaking in public,” one of the students shared after the presentation.

Honoring Mothers, Celebrating Generations of Love and Strength

The ACLAMO Senior Community Center came alive with joy and celebration this Mother’s Day as seniors, families, and staff gathered to honor the incredible mothers and grandmothers in our community. Filled with music, laughter, flowers, and heartfelt memories, the event reminded everyone of the love, strength, and wisdom that mothers bring to every generation.

A meaningful and emotional atmosphere touched attendees, evoking reflection, cherished memories, and a deep sense of appreciation. The celebration also included games, prizes, and gifts that brought smiles, encouraged active participation, and added to the excitement of the day.

Overall, the event fostered community connection, emotional well-being, and positive social engagement among seniors, creating a beautiful day of appreciation, connection, and community spirit.

Over the past few weeks, ACLAMO’s Healthy Fridays sessions have become a space for learning, healing, and connection within our community. Families gathered to hear important conversations about maternal care, emotional health in children and adolescents, and the social services available to support immigrant families as they navigate new opportunities and challenges.

Each session offered not only valuable information but also encouragement, understanding, and hope. The program also focused on prevention and holistic wellbeing, reminding participants that caring for both mind and body is essential for healthy families and stronger communities. And as every Healthy Friday came to a close, the energy in the room shifted with lively Zumba classes, where laughter, movement, and music brought everyone together in celebration of health and community spirit.

Coming Together to Create Change

On May 21st, ACLAMO had the privilege of joining inspiring organizations and changemakers at the 2026 OpportUNITY Summit, where passionate individuals came together to share ideas, build connections, and strengthen our communities.

We are incredibly grateful to United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey and all the amazing partners involved for creating such a meaningful space to learn, collaborate, and grow together. Moments like these remind us of the power of partnership and the impact we can make together.

A Conversation on Community, Advocacy, and Hope

HealthSpark Foundation recently sat down with Jacob McCrea, Community Resource and Advocate Specialist at ACLAMO, for a meaningful conversation about food security, advocacy, and the ongoing work to advance health equity in our communities.

Through the discussion, Jacob reflected on what we witness every day: families working tirelessly to overcome challenges, neighbors supporting one another, and the incredible strength people carry even in difficult circumstances. He shared how something as simple as access to resources, trusted support systems, and community advocacy can create life-changing opportunities for families to thrive.

These conversations remind us that building healthier communities goes beyond meeting immediate needs; it’s about empowering people, amplifying voices, and creating pathways toward lasting equity and opportunity.

Thank you to HealthSpark Foundation for creating space for these important stories and for helping shine a light on the work that continues to move our communities forward.

Standing Up for Students: Advocacy Day in Harrisburg

ACLAMO was proud to participate in Advocacy Day in Harrisburg. We had a productive day speaking with legislators and their staff about the importance of fair funding for public education across Pennsylvania.

During our visit, we had the opportunity to meet with staff from Senator Amanda Cappelletti’s office (17th District), as well as Representatives Matt Bradford (70th District), Joe Ciresi (146th District) , and Steve Malagari (53rd District). These conversations are critical as we continue advocating for equitable resources and opportunities for all students and families in our communities.

Education is a core value at ACLAMO, and we remain committed to ensuring that every child has access to a quality education supported by fair and adequate school funding.

A special thank you to our partners at PA Schools Work for the incredible work they did organizing this important event. Together, we can continue fighting for fair funding and building a brighter future for our children.

Thank You to Our Partners

Standing With ACLAMO: Partner of the Month

ACLAMO is deeply grateful to share that The VNA Foundation of Greater North Penn has awarded us a Spring 2026 grant of $20,000 in support of our mission to serve families across the greater North Penn region.

This generous investment reflects a shared commitment to ensuring that every individual and family has access to essential health and human services. Through this grant, the Foundation continues its longstanding dedication to supporting nonprofit organizations that strengthen health access, address basic health needs, and build stronger, more connected communities.

What makes this partnership especially meaningful is the Foundation’s focus on collaboration, capacity building, and equity, uplifting organizations that are committed to serving all people, especially those who have too often faced marginalization, discrimination, or barriers to care.

Together, we are creating pathways to healthier futures and expanding opportunities for the communities we proudly serve.
