Starting Strong: After-School Programs Kick Off
at ACLAMO!
|
|
|
At ACLAMO, we are excited to launch a new cycle of our after-school programs: Mentoring & Career Development and ADELANTE; strengthened by community trust and shared purpose, even amid challenges like educational gaps, language barriers, and economic hardship.
The cycle’s highlights include:
- Award Recognition: We are honored that our Program earned the Outstanding Organization/Program Award at the 2025 Afterschool Impact Awards, celebrating our leadership in out-of-school programming.
|
|
- Steady Leadership: With Interim Executive Director, Beatriz Gasiba, at the helm, our programs continue to grow in reach and impact.
- Strong Impact: Despite the hurdles, ACLAMO continues to show up, believe in our youth, and serve with purpose.
One of our students’ parents says it best: “I feel secure bringing my kids to ACLAMO; they don’t just help with homework; they give them a safe place to be.”
Thank you to our mentors, educators, families, volunteers, and leaders whose dedication makes each after-school program possible.
Together, we are building stronger futures—one student, one family, and most importantly, one community at a time.

ACLAMO is honored to announce the recipients of the 2024-25 ACLAMO Scholarship Program. These awards were recently presented to several students who have been part of our extended family for several years. Two recipients are members of the Class of 2025, and the others are currently enrolled at local colleges. We are extremely proud of these amazing recipients and wish them great success both in their classrooms and in their communities.
This year’s recipients include:
- Luis Sánchez, now attending Temple University
- Omar F. Yanez Carpio, now attending Temple University
- Orisleisy Montilla, now attending Temple University
- Anahí Tellez, now attending Montgomery County Community College
- María Camila Serna, now attending Penn State University
Interim Executive Director Beatriz Gasiba helped select this year’s recipients and is especially thankful to two esteemed members of the ACLAMO community who personally interviewed each recipient. ”I am incredibly proud of Bill Dyer and Gloria López-Pesini for their generous support of ACLAMO and their deep commitment to educational equity. Their donation made it possible to award scholarships to outstanding students who are not only excelling academically but also carrying forward the strength and spirit of our community. During Hispanic Heritage Month, it’s especially meaningful to celebrate both the generosity of our donors and the promise of the young leaders they’re helping to uplift.”

This month, ACLAMO, in partnership with Villanova University, proudly conducted a free legal citizenship clinic to assist green card holders on their path to U.S. citizenship.
The event brought together community members, legal professionals, and dedicated volunteers with one shared goal: supporting individuals in taking the next step toward becoming citizens.
A total of 14 clients were served during the clinic. The event was made possible thanks to the incredible support of 19 lawyers and 4 volunteers, all committed to providing accessible legal guidance and care.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to:
- Nelly Jiménez-Arévalo, Montgomery County’s Director of Immigrant Affairs
- Marlee McCadden from Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law
- Erick Barragan from Catholic Social Services
- And every passionate volunteer who generously donated their time and expertise
Thanks to their collaboration, participants were able to complete their applications with dignity, accuracy, and confidence.
This is the power of partnership in action—breaking down barriers, building stronger futures, and opening doors to new opportunities.
Thank you for standing with us to make citizenship possible for so many in our community.
