Throughout the school year, ACLAMO Family Centers offers an After School Program to at-risk children in the Norristown Area School District grades K through 8.
The mission of the program is to foster school achievement through a combination of remediation, enrichment and language support as needed.
With the help of tutors from local universities (including students from Ursinus, Bryn Mawr and Villanova and Episcopal Academy), participants receive individualized help to complete their homework.
ACLAMO realizes the importance of nutrition upon the learning process, and, thanks to the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, a cold supper is provided to students.
The students can then use the remaining time to engage in enrichment activities, improve their computer skills or read to earn ACLAMO dollars that can be redeemed weekly at the school store.
In addition, to these daily activities, the program provides an opportunity for the participants to become acquainted with a variety of science related professions by having monthly guest speakers.
The program meets Monday through Thursday from 3:00 p.m. to 5:45 p.m., and follows the Norristown Area School District calendar.
