Dear Friends,

Every month is special at ACLAMO, but May holds a unique place in our hearts. This month always offers a wonderful opportunity to honor the strength, resilience, and love of the incredible mothers and grandmothers we serve.

Mothers play an essential role in shaping the future of our communities. However, they often face barriers to healthcare, community resources, and peer support necessary for caring for their families. That is why ACLAMO is proud to offer First Bonds: Mommy and Me Program as part of our Community Health and Wellness Center. This program ensures every new mother receives the best possible care from pregnancy to their child’s second birthday.

First Bonds: Mommy and Me Program helps new mothers connect with vital resources, access healthcare, and learn about child development, health, and nutrition, all within a culturally supportive environment. We love it when these new parents bring their babies during visits to ACLAMO, as it serves as a daily reminder of our mission: to empower every client to fully achieve their life potential.

It was wonderful to honor some of our mothers and grandmothers earlier this month. We hosted 33 clients during our Mother’s Day Celebration on May 12, and another 30 clients during our Senior Center Mother’s Day Celebration on May 13.

Advocating for Fair and Adequate

Funding in Harrisburg

ACLAMO’s team with Representative Joseph Ciresi

ACLAMO’s team with Representative Steve Malagari

On May 13 we had the honor of meeting with Representatives Matt Bradford (70th District, PA House of Representatives), Steve Malagari (53rd District, PA representing Franconia, Hatfield, Montgomery, Lansdale, Souderton and Telford), and Joseph Ciresi (146th District, PA House of Representatives) in Harrisburg to advocate for fair and adequate funding for Pennsylvania’s public schools.

These meetings were part of a broader, statewide effort to push for a more equitable education system—one where every student, regardless of background or zip code, has access to the resources and opportunities they need to succeed. We engaged in thoughtful conversations about the long-term future of education in our state, and the critical role policy and funding play in student outcomes.

Moments like these are only possible because of your support. Your investment empowers our team to be a voice at the table—amplifying the needs of students, families, and educators across Pennsylvania. Together, we are helping shape a future where public education is fully funded.

Celebrating our Community Heroes:

A Special Time to Honor Our Volunteers

On May 14, ACLAMO hosted a special event to honor and celebrate the incredible volunteers who give their time and energy to support our community. It was an evening filled with gratitude, appreciation, and connection.

From warm conversations to thoughtful recognitions, every moment reflected how much we value their dedication. We shared laughs, stories, and a few surprises, making it a truly memorable time for everyone involved.

Our community is stronger because of their efforts, and this celebration was just a small way to say thank you for all that they do.

Celebrating Learning and Creativity in Pottstown:

ESL & Art Class Graduation

We recently marked the successful completion of another round of English as a Second Language (ESL) and Art classes in Pottstown with a warm gathering filled with conversation, delicious food, and the presentation of certificates to our dedicated participants. We are deeply thankful to our partners at Ursinus College and Pottstown Community Arts for their ongoing support in making these enriching classes accessible to our community.

A new cycle of ESL and Art classes will begin soon, continuing our commitment to helping community members grow, connect, and thrive.
