Bilingual Older Adults Activities Coordinator (Part-Time, On-site)

 The Bilingual Older Adults Activities Coordinator is responsible for overseen the day-to-day activities of ACLAMO’s Senior Services Center. She/he provided guidance and supervision to volunteers/interns. In order to accomplish this, a candidate for this position must be highly organized, goal-oriented and a strong communicator. The Bilingual Older Adults Activities Coordinator will be responsible for the following essential functions:

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for planning, organizing, and overseeing recreational and social activities for older adults/seniors.
  • Created engaging programs that promote social interaction, physical and mental well-being, and overall quality of life for senior residents.
  • Organized and coordinated senior focus fairs, classes and events.
  • Escort residents to and from activities
  • Receive food, order supplies, prepare and served food, scheduled food,  maintain food safety, manage food distribution, record meals served, and maintain cleanliness and record keeping following food safety regulations. 
  • Coordinate and delivery monthly community food baskets distributions provided by the state/local partners as needed
  • Completed social security applications including payee report/ application, disabilities claims/ forms, SS number application, benefit work letters.
  • Provide clients with information and referrals to community resources
  • Encourage seniors to utilize bilingual adult education and wrap-around services
  • Conduct outreach within the community to recruit older adults and seniors to participate in the program.
  • Maintain records of client contacts and services, outreach activity, and other required information.
  • Collaborate and organized with other staff members in the organization, set up and preparation of large-scale events as needed.
  • Participate in individual and group supervision, team meetings, planning activities and ongoing training Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • An associate degree with 1 to 3 years of experience in human services and/or event planning.
  • Fluent in Spanish and English required.

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Basic knowledge of physical and psychological changes associated with aging and the needs and capacities of older adults
  • Knowledge of senior activity and social interests, and an ability to plan, organize and direct a diversified program of recreational, wellness, education, and socialization activities for older adults
  • Proficient in Microsoft programs, eg. Outlook, Word, Excel, and Powerpoint 
  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be detail oriented and possess strong organizational skills
  • Work at establishing a base of trust with each resident or community member.
  • Accept residents and community members “where they are at” while working to assist them.
  • Be a passionate supporter of ACLAMO’s mission, vision and programs
  • Observe confidentiality, privacy, and dignity of each person in the program.

Special Notes:

  • Must have and maintain a valid drivers’ license, automobile insurance and daily access to an automobile and cell phone
  • This position requires visual and auditory acuity and the physical ability to ascending or descending ladders, stairs, ramps among others. Adjusting, lifting up, carrying up or moving objects up to 35 pounds in all directions. Standing or sitting for prolonged periods, walk and work in your feet for a minimun of 6 hours at a time.
  • Required working days are Monday thru Fridays and some night and weekends.
  • This position requieres traveling to all ACLAMO offices. 
  • Must obtain the following three clearances:

  Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance;

  Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check; and

  Federal Bureau of Investigation Criminal Background Check.
