Lead Instructor – Summer Youth Programs (On-site, multiple locations)
- Location: Multiple locations in Montgomery County- primary base at Morris Arboretum
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, up to 32 hours per week
- Reports to: Education Program Manager
The Lead Instructor will instruct/supervise a class of school students in ACLAMO’s summer program. The ideal candidate will have a background in the field of education and be highly organized, flexible, and patient with students. The Lead Instructor will be responsible for the following essential functions:
Role and Responsibilities
- Plan daily lessons to achieve goals and objectives in literacy/math/science
- Lead engaging and practical activities
- Create and acquire engaging, relevant, and authentic materials
- Monitor student work and administer assessments
- Supervise students during class time, entrance and dismissal, enforcing administration policies and rules
- Coordinate tasks with volunteer tutors and/or teacher’s assistants
- Maintain the cleanliness of the outdoors sites and classroom which will include vacuuming, dusting, picking up materials or supplies, wiping down surfaces, and arranging desks and chairs
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- An associate degree accredited college or university in education, or any related field OR a college student with two years of experience working with children in any summer program.
Preferred Skills
- Proficient in Microsoft programs, e.g. Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
- Detail oriented and possess strong organizational skills
- Ability to believe in the academic potential of all students

Special Notes
- Must have and maintain a valid drivers’ license, automobile insurance, and daily access to an automobile and cell phone.
- This position requires visual and auditory acuity and the physical ability to ascend or descend ladders, stairs, ramps, among others.
- Must be able to adjust, lift, carry, or move objects up to 35 pounds in all directions.
- Must be able to stand or sit for prolonged periods, walk, and work on your feet for a minimum of 6 hours at a time.
Must obtain the following three clearances:
- Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance
- Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check
- Federal Bureau of Investigation Criminal Background Check.
