Empowering Young Minds This Summer:

Learning. Discovery. Confidence. Community.

ACLAMO’s Norristown Summer Bridge students and Lead Tutor, Rubén D. Jiménez, with our Partners from Merck Alianza

The energy is back at ACLAMO! Earlier this month, we welcomed more than 150 students to our Summer Bridge programs in Norristown and Pottstown, launching another exciting season filled with learning, creativity, friendship, and discovery.

One of the highlights so far has been a special visit from our partners at Merck Alianza, who transformed our classrooms into hands-on science labs. Fourth and fifth grade students explored STEAM concepts through interactive experiments, including colorful density demonstrations and building their own water filtration systems.

These experiences do more than teach science; they encourage curiosity, critical thinking, teamwork, and confidence. We are incredibly grateful to the Merck Alianza volunteers for sharing their knowledge, enthusiasm, and time with our students.

Throughout the summer, students continue to learn through engaging academic instruction, creative arts, educational field trips, STEAM activities, and collaborative projects. Every day provides opportunities to strengthen literacy and math skills while helping young people build resilience, leadership, and the confidence they need to succeed both inside and outside the classroom.

Whether they’re creating community art projects in Norristown or exploring history aboard the Colebrookdale Railroad in Pottstown, our students are making memories while preparing for a successful school year.

Pennsylvania Invests in Public Education

Pennsylvania’s newly approved 2026–2027 State Budget includes important investments that will strengthen public education across the Commonwealth.

The budget provides:

  • $565 million for adequacy and tax equity funding
  • $50 million in additional Basic Education Funding
  • $50 million for Special Education
  • Continued investments in Career and Technical Education

At ACLAMO, we know that every child deserves access to a high-quality education regardless of their ZIP code.

These investments represent meaningful progress toward educational equity and reinforce the work we do every day to support children, youth, and families through academic enrichment, mentoring, and educational advocacy.

AARP Community Challenge

This summer marks an exciting milestone as ACLAMO launches its newest Digital Literacy Program for Older Adults, made possible through the generous support of the 2026 AARP Community Challenge.

ACLAMO is honored to be one of only 750 organizations nationwide selected to receive this competitive grant from AARP Livable Communities and AARP Pennsylvania.

Classes officially began on July 21 at our Senior Community Center, where participants are learning practical digital skills that promote independence and connection.

From using smartphones and computers to accessing healthcare portals, communicating with family members, and navigating essential online services, participants are building confidence while becoming more connected to today’s digital world.

Digital access is no longer a luxury; it is essential. Thanks to AARP’s investment, more older adults in our community will have the knowledge and support they need to thrive.

Thank you, AARP, for investing in our community.
