Student Success & Career Coach (Full-time, on-site, Norristown)

  • Reports to: Education Administrative Supervisor 

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Student Success & Career Coach supports students in ACLAMO’s youth Education programs, with a primary focus on Mentoring & Career Development and ADELANTE. The position provides academic guidance, college and career preparation, student follow-up, and connections to educational and workforce opportunities.

The Coach works closely with the Education Administrative Supervisor, Community Liaison, Digital Navigation & Education Coordinator, instructors, families, and community partners. The position also supports Summer Bridge and other Education Department activities as needed.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide individualized academic, college, career, and personal guidance to students.
  • Develop and monitor student success plans based on academic performance, interests, needs, and goals.
  • Meet regularly with students and conduct proactive follow-up regarding attendance, participation, academic progress, and program expectations.
  • Communicate with students and families through phone calls, text messages, email, and ACLAMO-approved communication platforms.
  • Coordinate academic assessments and work with instructors to identify and address student support needs.
  • Assist students with college exploration, applications, FAFSA, financial aid, scholarships, admissions, and enrollment.
  • Provide career-readiness support, including career exploration, resumes, job applications, interview preparation, and workplace skills.
  • Connect students with internships, summer employment, apprenticeships, job shadowing, volunteer opportunities, and other career experiences.
  • Coordinate college visits, career speakers, employer visits, workshops, career fairs, and other student development activities.
  • Support graduating students with transitions to college, employment, training, or other post-secondary pathways.
  • Coordinate with the Community Liaison on recruitment, family engagement, school outreach, and attendance concerns.
  • Coordinate with the Education Administrative Supervisor on student progress, program priorities, scheduling, and reporting.
  • Build relationships with schools, colleges, employers, workforce organizations, and community partners.
  • Support Summer Bridge, field trips, workshops, and other Education Department activities.
  • Maintain accurate student records and update required information in CWDS and other program databases.
  • Track student academic, college, career, internship, employment, and postsecondary outcomes.
  • Participate in staff meetings, supervision, training, program planning, and student case discussions.
  • Contribute as an active team member and support Education Department priorities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Human Services, Career Development, or a related field required; master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience working with middle and/or high school students.
  • Experience in youth development, academic advising, college access, career coaching, teaching, workforce development, or a related field.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and timemanagement skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students and families.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to accurately maintain program data and documentation.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish required.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Experience with CWDS or a similar participant-tracking system.
  • Knowledge of local college, workforce, apprenticeship, and community resources.
  • Experience in a nonprofit, community-based, or out-of-school-time youth program.

SPECIAL NOTES:

  • Regular schedule: Monday–Thursday, 10:30 a.m.–6:30 p.m.; Friday, 9:30 a.m.– 5:30 p.m.
  • Occasional evening and Saturday availability is required based on program needs.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license, automobile insurance, and access to reliable transportation.

  • Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check
  • Federal Bureau of Investigation Criminal Background Check
